Learning Goal
The learning goal of this seminar is to provide students with the skills that they require to move seamlessly from theoretical learning conducted in seminars as part of their degree, to conceptualising, carrying out and writing up empirical research. The explicit learning-goal is for students to achieve competence in and knowledge of the practical research process. This comprises identifying a research goal and deriving an appropriate research question, operationalising a data collection plan, followed up by collecting and analysing data and producing a report of the research findings. There will be a particular focus on activity-oriented teaching and learning. Students will act as researchers and employ both the theoretical and methods knowledge that they have gained throughout their studies.
