Faculties of Lyon« The emergence of novel and powerful digital technologies, digital platforms and digital infrastructures has transformed innovation and entrepreneurship in significant ways. Beyond simply opening new opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs, digital technologies have broader implications for value creation and value capture. Research and teaching aimed at understanding the digital transformation of the economy needs to incorporate multiple and cross-levels of analysis, embrace ideas and concepts from multiple fields/disciplines, and explicitly acknowledge the role of digital technologies in transforming organizations and social relationships « Nambisan and al. 2019). 

A digital firm is one in which nearly all of the organization’s significant business relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees are digitally enabled, and key corporate assets are managed through digital means.  When a firm goes digital, it’s not about just adding a computer system to the mix. Throwing a computer system at outdated business processes is exactly the wrong thing to do. A truly digital firm has several characteristics that distinguish it from most of the firms claiming to be digitized:

This course introduces students to business problems, processes, and professional practices with an emphasis on structuring and solving business problems using computer applications. Drawing on problems from a range of business disciplines such as operations management, students will define, model, and solve business problems using softwares. https://www.bizagi.com/en/platform/modeler

The students will practice critical thinking and business communication through oral and written presentation of problem analysis and results. It underlines an organizational view of how to use information technology to create competitive firms, manage global organizations, and provide useful products and services to customers. 

Topics include security costs and benefits, information assets, security threats and IS building issues.
