Korean Studies Frankfurt is happy to organize our 2nd Summer School titled “Discovering North Korea” to be held online via Zoom from July 29 to August 2, 10:00 – 15:00 German local time (CEST/UTC+2). The program is designed to inspire university students in Germany and beyond to explore the latest developments in North Korean Studies. A total of 10 lectures from very renowned experts in the field awaits you.

The speakers will share their insights on a variety of topics, including North Korean history, politics, society, and culture. You will gain valuable knowledge on how North Korea has shaped its current foreign policy, how North Korean refugee doctors adjust to life in South Korea, how North Korean sports is used to represent North Korean identity internationally, which actors and institutions contribute to humanitarian assistance in North Korea and so much more.

The summer school is free of charge and will be held online in English, giving participants from all over the world the opportunity to engage in lively discussions with the speakers and other attendees. After attending all 10 lectures, students will receive a certificate for their successful participation. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students from all fields of study with an interest in North Korea to attend and be part of this exciting experience.
