History and Legacy of Black Power - WiSe 24/25

Black Americans have long struggled for their freedom. Today we see their engagement in modern social movements such as #BlackLivesMatter and the Movement for Black Lives. But where lie the roots of this activism?

This class focuses on the development of the Black Power movement from its early antecedents at the beginning of the 20^th century through the height of its engagement with community organization, politics, and law enforcement. Finally, we will have a look at Black Power’s Legacy across American culture, activism, and politics.
