The aim of this course is to improve students’ written English through translating French literary texts into the target language.  In doing so, we will not only look at lexis and syntax but also at the semantic importance of word choice as well as at such features as tone, style and sub-text.

Excerpts to be used will be taken from a variety of novels and dramatic literature.

Students wishing to take part should possess at least a CEF B2 competency in French.

N.B. – This course can be used for programme requirements in BA/MA English Studies, MA American Studies, MA Moving Cultures as well as in all Lehramtstudiengänge.
