Anthropogenic climate change poses serious threats of devastation to people and communities across the globe. But the poor around the world are especially vulnerable due to geography and limited resources for adaptation. Climate change also risks massive species extinction. This pro-seminar discusses a wide range of normative analyses of climate change. It considers fundamental questions of justice to future generations who will be most affected by climate change, justice and the global distribution of duties to mitigate climate change and to finance adaptation to it, responsibility for mitigating climate change, the morality of geo-engineering as a response to climate change, and the politics of hope.
