The purpose of this course is to further improve students' ability to write academic essays in English. To this end, participants will be expected to work quasi-independently with a reader designed to cover the essential aspects of academic essay writing. In addition, supplementary excercises will be provided by the instructor. Students will be required to hand in work relating to the extended thesis statement and the introduction as well as a take-home essay assignment. Please note that we will use dramatic literature (one-act and full-length plays) as a basis for the essay topics. Successful completion of the course will be contingent on passing the final essay examination.
