This is a course primarily designed for masters students who want to try their translation skills out on turning German literary texts into appropriately literary English. The course aims to look at a range of textual difficulties from a wide spectrum of literature. We work with texts from Franz Kafka, Heinrich Böll, W.G. Sebald, Thomas Mann, Robert Seethaler, Robert Musil and Ödön von Horváth. There are two assessed in class translations.
