This lecture is the first part of the two-part lecture series on American Literature and Culture. It will give an overview of significant literary and cultural developments in America from colonial times to the end of the nineteenth century.
The two parts are nonconsecutive. Students may begin either with part I or part II – which ever course is offered in the current semester.
