This course offers an exploration of questionnaire design tailored to research with children and young people. Drawing on examples from existing studies in childhood and youth research, participants will examine key principles of questionnaire design, including question formulation, age-appropriate language, ethical considerations, modes of administration, and testing. Through a combination of methodological discussion and hands-on activities, students will critically analyse questionnaires used in youth studies and engage in the step-by-step development of their own survey instruments. Practical assignments include the evaluation of existing childhood and youth survey tools and the creation of a questionnaire designed for their own specific research context. The course aims to equip participants with both conceptual understanding and practical skills necessary for conducting meaningful and ethically sound survey research with young people.
