“Toba Tek Singh“ by Sadat Hasan Manto centers around inmates of a mental asylum who are meant to be exchanged between the two newly formed nations, India and Pakistan. Through the character Bishan Singh it is highlighted how the partition of the two nations causes confusion and trauma. One could agree that political disputes essentially effect the residents of the nations; feeling a senselessness and not knowing ones own identity, nor where to belong to.
