Dr. Malreddy’s article „Discoursing populism“ introduces different types of populisms as well as their similarities. It highlights common characteristics of all forms of populism, for example to „woo the masses by seizing upon the available discontent“, its „aversion to pluralism“ and the „pitting of „the people“ against „the establishments““ (p.2). The article outlines different types of populism, their characteristics and examples of countries and populist personalities for each type. I think it will be very interesting to explore the different types of populism during the seminar and their different strategies, aims ans threats.
