In my opinion the cast system is an unjust and harmful societal hierarchy, furthermore I am surprised it still exists to some extend. Not only does it enforce systemic discrimination, but it also denies lower caste members opportunities, rights and dignity.
While others societies have different classes of individuals, it is still possible for a human to move between classes (even if difficult), this is not possible for an individual of a lower caste. Once you’re in a lower caste, you stay there.
